First post and Last Day of School!!

Since I now live halfway across the country from family and friends and have two young boys, I have been bad about keeping in touch with everyone. I barely have time to sit down, let alone email or call my family and friends, so I thought a blog would be a great idea. I'm trying to convince Mary to do the same because she's in Africa for two months and is only allowed 15 minutes a day on the computer.

Today is Tripp's last day of school...or so he thinks. Little does he know he goes back for summer session in two weeks for two days a week. For some unknown reason he's been hesitant about going to school the last several weeks. He used to tell me he wanted to go to school everyday and then suddenly didn't want to go at all (note: see pictures below from today before leaving for school and when he got to school). He decided to stay today, though, when I told him it was his last day of school with Miss Lisa and Miss Kathy and that he was going to have a party and when he got home he could have a popsicle. I think the popsicle is what made him decide to stay and the thought of possibly having cupcakes at the school party. Speaking of parties...a couple days ago out of the blue he told me he wanted to have a party with dancing and cupcakes...? Not sure where that came from. Hopefully the two week break will do him some good and he'll be ready to go back.

It's been busy here at our house and I think we're all ready for vacation. I know Tripp is ready for the beach. I'm envious of Megan, who is on her honeymoon right now probably laying on the beach. She married a wonderful guy named Todd and their wedding was 5/12 in Asheville, NC. As you can see she looked beautiful and the entire weekend was so much fun. I especially enjoyed spending time with my friends and family.

The kids and I flew to Atlanta the week before the wedding. While it was great seeing my family I was sick almost the entire time with strep throat (which I hadn't gotten since 9th grade and forgot how horrible it makes me feel). I had big plans to see a lot of people and didn't get to see many people but fortunately Julie C. and her new baby girl, Evie (who is precious). I'm not sure when we'll be back in Atlanta but hopefully it will be sometime soon. This picture shows Tripp's favorite part of the Atlanta trip (he's obsessed with Maggie the chihuahua) and Jack's favorite part (his Aunt Minnie, who wouldn't leave him alone):

Other than our trip to Atlanta and Asheville we have been busy at home. While I was away in Atlanta T.J. painted our dining room and master bath (and did a great job- they both look much better) and began hanging our vintage TWA posters we collect in the basement. Now we're in the process of trying to get the playroom in the basement reorganized (along with the rest of the house) and it's all starting to come together nicely. Tripp's been busy on his plasma car (thanks Mom and Dad- see below picture you were asking for) and Jack has been wonderful. I don't want to brag but in my opinion he is a perfect baby and I couldn't ask for anything more. He's so easygoing and loves to laugh and smile. He's such a good sleeper that he actually fell asleep sitting up while I was holding him on my hip talking to a friend outside. She looked over and started dying laughing because he was sitting up perfectly straight and was dead asleep.

Update: Tripp's now at home with me and according to his teachers he had a wonderful day. He was happy to see me and I think the following had something to do with his good day...

Well Tripp's done with his popsicle and for those of you who dont know T.J....for some reason he's very particular about stains on shirts, spilling stuff, etc. Do you think he'll be upset??
