Chi-Town Guests

This weekend we had some friends, Anne and Scott, visit from Chicago. T.J. and Scott became good friends while training with Hartford in Charlotte and I met Anne through Scott. It was great to see them and we hope they had as much fun as we had (especially Tripp...he always wanted to be with Miss Anne and Mr Scott). I think Tripp may have even shed a tear after we dropped them off at the airport yesterday!
Saturday we started the day off with Lamars Donuts down the street. They have some of the best donuts and they're about a mile and a half away from our house (not too convenient when on a diet). It was a really nice day so we also ventured down to the Plaza and walked around after driving through Mission Hills, which is a famous old neighborhood where people such as Mr. Helzberg, Mr. Block, Mr. Stover, and Mr. Hallmark live.

That night we had the pleasure of venturing down to Kauffman Stadium to witness the Indians take on the Royals. T.J.'s parents are big Cleveland fans (they are from Ohio) and Anne is also from Cleveland so T.J. has been raised a Cleveland fan and everyone was happy when the Indians beat the Royals. Tripp thoroughly enjoyed the game. We sat right behind the Indians dugout so whenever there was a left handed batter we were told we were on T.V. which was a fun thought since we never actually got to see ourselves on T.V.

Yesterday to kill some time we went to Deanna Rose since nothing else here really opens before 11am or noon on Sundays. Afterward we decided to go to Union Station, which is an 850,000 sq ft train station built in 1914 (but closed in the 80's). The historical landmark now has shops, restaurants, all sorts of exhibits, the planetarium, a theater district, and the list goes on. The first time I came to Kansas City to meet T.J.'s family we went to Pierpont's which is inside Union Station- great food- would highly recommend it. You could easily spend the whole day at Union Station but since time was limited because of Anne and Scott's flight we went to the KC Rail Experience exhibit. Tripp of course loved it. He got to drive a train, tour the train, saw all sorts of toy trains in action, and also got to play inside Science City.

After Union Station we sadly had to say goodbye to Miss Anne and Mr. Scott and we hope they come back to visit soon! We also hope they're still looking forward to having kids after spending a weekend with us!!!
