Jack's 1st Birthday

Jack had a wonderful first birthday. He had 2 parties- one party here (Mickey-themed) and a joint party with Tripp in Atlanta. He got too many presents (which he was oblivious to), was terrified when everyone sang Happy Birthday, hated cake and ate about a million chocolate chip cookies (this happens only on his birthday). I think he had a good time because he got a lot of attention that day and I think (hope) felt very special. I still have a hard time believing my little baby is 1!

Lovett 10th Yr Reunion
Tripp's 3rd Birthday
The day after Jack's birthday we ventured back to Atlanta for my 10th year high school reunion. I was not very good with pictures Friday night and took none Saturday night so there are very few to post! Friday some friends came to my parents for dinner and some catching up. Despite my state of delirium from that previous week and the 7am flight, I had a lot of fun.

The reunion Saturday night was fun. It was great to see everyone, talk with old friends, and I thought everyone looked the same! I didn't think name tags were necessary. It will be interesting to see everyone at the 20th year reunion!

Tripp's 3rd Birthday
Tripp's birthday actually lasted about 7 days. We had the joint party for he and Jack in Atlanta, had a party for him at school on Friday, had his party with his friends on Saturday at The Little Gym, and party with T.J.'s family here and my dad on Sunday (his actual birthday). I'm so beat after the past couple weeks! Next year there may be joint parties with the two boys! All these different parties are tough!
With so many parties one runs out of cake ideas! Tripp got to choose how his birthday cake in Atlanta would be...vanilla cake with vanilla icing COVERED COMPLETELY in rainbow sprinkles. His school cake was a cookie cake he was excited about although I think his teachers wanted to kill me after having to clean the kids in the class after eating a cookie cake completely covered in thick icing with sprinkles (of course) and more icing on top. His cake for his friends party was a construction cake and by his actual birthday I was all caked out so for his party on his actual birthday we decided on cupcakes.

We decided on the construction theme for his friends party at The Little Gym because he has been and still is obsessed with construction vehicles. There's so much construction here everywhere and anytime he sees a machine..."oh there's a mixer look at it's drum going around" or "look at that excavator" or "do you see that front end loader?!". He's always been so interested and mesmerized by them. His party was a hit. 8 of his favorite friends were there and they all made him feel very special. My favorite part of the party was when he was opening his presents and after opening some of the presents he would stop, look around, jump off the birthday boy seat, seek out whose present he just opened and would run and give the present giver a hug and say thank-you (he did this all on his own w/ no instructions from me- people would be telling him to open another present and he'd say "shhh hold on", look around, and go hug the kid). Truly one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.

On his real birthday we went to lunch with Pop, then to Blue Chip Cookie (Tripp's choice), and went home and opened some presents and waited for the guests to arrive to officially celebrate the big day. Tripp's favorite presents from this party were his Playmobil airplane and a set of construction vehicles.

Pumpkin Carving!
As previously mentioned in this blog, Tripp is obsessed with pumpkins. Tripp helped me carve his first pumpkin tonight (yes I know it's a little late in the game and as you can see we are no picasso but he was VERY proud of it) and we will be doing another tomorrow. Scary enough he really enjoyed using his pumpkin knife. He loves his "happy pumpkin" as he calls it. He just kept telling me he loved his "happy pumpkin."
